Day 1 – Arrive into Nagoya
Upon your arrival at Chubu Centrair International Airport (NGO), your private English-speaking guide and personal chauffeur will be there to welcome you.
Embark on a private transfer tour to Gifu. En-route, stretch your legs taking a short stroll to one of Japan’s Top 100 waterfalls and capture some Instagram-worthy images at an architecturally acclaimed landscape of disorientating spaces.
Upon arrival at Gifu, your English-speaking guide will assist you with your check-in.
Day 2 – Gifu
Go on an orientation tour of Gifu with your private English-speaking guide and personal chauffeur.
Renowned as the home of food replica, you can also learn about paper made using a traditional technique called nagashizuki. Stroll past beautifully preserved Edo period houses and soak in the tranquillity.
Time permitting, explore Nagoya city and be sure to have unagi during dinner as Nagoya is the country’s largest producer.
Day 3 – Gifu to Toba
En-route today’s coastal drive to Toba, your private English-speaking guide will share the differences between the lives of samurais and ninjas, and recommend restaurants serving what locals claim to be Japan’s best wagyu.
Time permitting, you can also access summits via ropeways for stunning autumn foliage views (season dependent).
Enjoy your evening in your traditional Japanese ryokan accommodation.
Day 4 – Toba
Your personal chauffeur and private English-speaking guide will bring you on a coastal experience today.
Sample fresh seafood caught by Ama, female Japanese free divers; your guide will be happy to translate any questions that you have for them to enhance your understanding of this unique culture that dates back 2,000 years to the Yayoi period.
Cruise on the serene Ago Bay aboard a tall ship mimicking one from the 16th centuy. Renowned for its pristine water that is optimal for pearl cultivation, take the opportunity to learn the science from the masters when you visit the pearl farm!
Day 5 – Toba
Sample an ancient pilgrimage trail that has been used for centuries to access sacred sites and is today part of UNESCO-listed Sacred Sites and Pilgrimage Routes in the Kii Mountain Range. En-route, you will also be rewarded by a work of art created by nature.
Depending on the season you’re visiting, see a thousand rice terraces shimmering silver from the sun’s reflection, or turn a deep green from rice ready to be harvested.
Day 6 – Toba to Tokoname
Enjoy a warm foot bath as you bask in the panoramic view of the coast; on a clear day, one can see Mount Fuji from here. Any time is a good time for snacks – satisfy those peckish cravings with an array of local delicacies lined along a charming food street.
You will see fields upon fields of flowers at one of Japan’s largest flower park; between October and May you will also get to view one of the most extravagant illumination shows in the country.
Day 7 – Tokoname
The young will have a fun-filled day at one of the several theme parks available in Nagoya city; the adults can enjoy their fair share shopping to their heart’s content at Japan’s largest outlet mall.
Day 8 – Depart Tokoname
On your last day, if time permits, explore your surroundings at leisure.
Known for its ceramics and affection for the feline, why not have a friendly competition with your loved ones to see who has spotted more ceramic maneki nekos (a cat that has one arm beckoning signifying the welcoming of good fortune).
At the appropriate time, a private transfer will pick you from your Tokoname accommodation and send you to Nagano NGO Airport for your departure flight.
